How much boric acid is toxic to humans?

The safety of borate is evaluated to be high. In trace amounts, borate is an essential micronutrient for plants and is considered nutritionally important for humans. However, if you take an extremely large amount, you may get sick. The acute toxicity of borate is considered to be about the same as that of salt.
The US Food and Nutrition Board (FDB) recently acknowledged the safety of boron and set an acceptable upper limit of boron intake of 20 mg per day.

SOUFA is conducting safety tests.
